Veil Trims
It’s a common misconception that the trim on a veil determines its shape. While this is not the case, the quality and nature of the trim does make a huge difference in the overall look of the veil. Tiny, delicate trims provide the most subtle of frames while big, bold trims make a statement. We are proud to source our trims from the best mills throughout the world for our veils.
Satin Cord Trim
Silky satin cord trim is meticulously stitched to the very edge of the fabric. It has minimal visual weight and provides a subtle, yet traditional, finishing touch for the veil. This trim is very small, just a fraction of an inch (1.5mm), so it can be paired with almost any style of gown without overwhelming it.
Cut Edge
This simple veil edge – or lack thereof – is surprisingly beautiful. Simple is often the hardest thing to achieve in design as there isn’t anything (such as lace or beads) to cover up mistakes. Our Makers have to bring their A game to achieve this sublime “trim”, and they do! Our cut edge is perfect when your bride wants a delicate, floating effect that won’t distract from her gown.
Folded Silk Satin Ribbon Trim
To create this trim, our Makers use a bespoke sewing machine foot that perfectly folds the 100% silk double-faced satin ribbon in half and encases the entire veil edge -front and back – inside the silk. This technique gives a classic tailored look with more visual weight than our regular silk ribbon trim and is 1/4″ (6.35mm) wide.
Horsehair Trim
This is our bestselling veil trim of all time, and certainly the one with the most unique name! We are frequently asked if this trim is really made from horses. The answer is: not anymore! While it was once made from the stiff hair of a horse’s mane and tail, today it is created from manmade fibers. What makes this trim so popular? We believe it is the structure and body it provides to any veil shape, while still being translucent and without much visual weight.Â
Micro Ribbon Trim
Our micro ribbon is the tiniest possible ribbon trim, clocking in at only 1/16″ (2mm). Not everyone has the technical skills to sew on such a tiny ribbon, but our Makers are experts! Using the same proprietary technique as our cut edge, but now with the added difficulty of cutting incredibly close to this tiniest of ribbons. One mistake and the veil has to be started over. This trim really shows the level of love and skill we put into every veil we make.Â
Pencil Edge
Our pencil edge is the best in the industry, if. we do say so ourselves. As basic as it might look, this edge requires our Makers to have incredible skill and an extremely steady hand. One false move while creating this edge – or an ill-timed sneeze! – and the entire veil has to be remade. A pencil edge is perfect when your bride doesn’t want her to create a visual frame but still wants it to have a polished, “finished” edge.Â
Silk Satin Ribbon Trim
When most people picture a veil trim, this silk ribbon is what comes to mind. It is the quintessential veil trim, but done Sara Gabriel style, using lush 100% silk double-faced satin ribbon. Available in a range of sizes shown below, it is a more delicate version of our folded silk trim.
Soutache Braid Trim
Soutache (pronounced soo-TASH) is a silky flat braid that is easily bent and curved into any desired shape. It is very similar in construction to the tiny cording used on our Alencon lace. This makes this trim an excellent compliment for any French lace gown. Soutache is very narrow, about 1/8″ (3mm) wide.
Sueded Ribbon Trim
This unique trim starts life as double-faced satin 100% silk ribbon that then has it’s surface “brushed”. Brushing the surface in this way reduces the sheen and creates this lovely, pearlescent finish that is more subtle than our regular ribbon trim. Sueded ribbon is 1/4″ (6.35mm) wide.
